Where am I now? you might be wondering. It’s been about a month now since my last update and as far as you know, I could be in NZ right now.
Hmm, am I? Last you knew, I was waiting to hear back about my visa application. Well, I did hear back from the New Zealand embassy. There were a few problems I had to fix in my application which took about a week. Then I sent my application back to them. My application has been with them for about two weeks. And guess what? It will be with them for another 3 weeks at least. Some complications have come up because the embassy here in the US doesn’t understand how private schools hire teachers in NZ. It’s a bit confusing to describe, so I’ll spare you.
Anyway, so it will be a bit longer before I leave. It is true that I am very excited about leaving the US, but it’s not necessarily because I don’t like it here. I’m thankful I could experience the fall season. It was the most colorful that I’ve seen in the 6 autumns that I’ve been here. But I’m really excited about getting started down there, to experience a new place. So, I think you can understand my anxiousness to leave.
Oh, dear Lord, give me patience… this unknown is so hard to bear.
A friend told me that optimists have a really hard time with waiting for things that keep getting postponed. It’s because they are continually yo-yoing between believing that the next time it will work out, only to have their hopes dashed upon the rocks again and again.
Is there a possibility that I won’t go to New Zealand? Well, I suppose there is always a chance of anything. What would I do? Well, I don’t know… I think I would still probably want to go somewhere new. But, lets not spend too much time thinking about that… because there is still much we can do in making it to NZ. So, for now I’m in Michigan until mid November. And without a car for the first time in 5 years. Thankfully, I am employed until I leave. What an interesting unfolding of events.
I would appreciate your prayers in the matter.
Just a note, if you have received this blog post in an email, please click the title of this post, and any post, to open it in your web browser. Trust me, it’s way better that way. You’ll get to see all the other cool things I’ve included in my blog such as maps, weather, more photos, and a better viewing experience.

I’m so sorry for all the delays. I know how hard that must be for you, partly because I’ve been experiencing my own delays.
But as is often said, God’s timing is perfect. He’ll get you there when you need to be there. Also, love your extras on your blog, and it’s good to see someone else finally enjoying and taking some creative pictures on that world sculpture!
Take care!
Yeah, I keep trying to remind myself about God’s timing. I know something will work out.
Thank you for putting a more positive spin on your “waiting” time.
I think the point I was trying to make was that it doesn’t matter where you are or what you are doing, each moment should be lived as fully as the next….(which I know you know, but sometimes it’s helpful when someone else just says it!) Hmmm, if you have no car, I guess a friend will drive you to the airport. Katherine, i’m just saying…I hope you can be “happy” even if you don’t go to N.Z. I get the feeling that the reason you’re waiting so long is because you had all your eggs in that basket…and God is trying to teach you not to do that. You might be “stuck” having to teach in the States…..”on no”….what then??? I’m not trying to offend you Katherine, just giving you my spin on things!
Comments?
Thanks Judy. We will see won’t we? If I don’t go to NZ it won’t be the end of the world, because I know God will have just as important of a plan for me here. I mean, I’ll be a bit let down, because I really wanted to explore NZ, but anyway, we shall see.
KNOW THAT I KEEP PRAYING FOR HIS WILL, AMEN. Joyce Miller

OH HO Katherine! How is school going? We’re having wild winter weather here, and Spring is only a week away. Olivia will be coming for her graduation the 1st week in May – Cassie is coming, and Olivia’s Grandfather and Mother, so we will have a happy houseful. What season of the year are you in now?
I found a perfect frame and matting for the little Rat painting you did – it looks beautiful. And guess where I found it??? At Neighbor to Neighbor! for $3! The frame is light colored wood, and the 2 ” matting is a burgundy color which brings out the color of the flower (? it looks like a flower) the rat is nibbling on. I hung it in the pink bathroom (above the toilet) – the rat doesn’t seem to mind, and he is reflected in the mirror.
I hope all is going well for you. Have you sent any blogs lately? Olivia was describing one I don’t think I got yet. Love, Nanu
